What is Bison Burger Recipe and how to make Bison Burger?

Bison is a healthy meat, which makes an excellent source of lean protein. Being lower in fat then other meats, it has a rich flavor and a great source of omega 3 acids, which are mainly healthy fats. Bison burgers are hamburgers cooked with meat of either Buffalo or Bison (American Bison). They are generally are large and juicy and contain less fat and less cholesterol. Tips to Make Bison Burger

  • You will need to mix the bison burger gently as too much mixing can make it hard.
  • Don’t overcook the burger patties as bison is a very lean protein so it may dry out quickly if overcooked. 
  • You can cook burger patties earlier and store them in the refrigerator for up to three days. Just add some cheese and heat it for 1-2 minutes at the time of making burgers.

In a large mixing bowl, combine ground bison meat, onions, garlic paste, kosher salt, and pepper and mix it gently. Divide this meat mixture into 4 even portions and form into four patties which should slightly larger than the size of your bun. Meat shrinks while cooking so keep half inch big patties then burger bun.

Heat an iron skillet over medium-high heat and add a tbsp of butter in it. Place the patties gently in the skillet and season these patties with kosher salt and pepper. Cook patties evenly on each side until brown for about 5-7 minutes. Once cooked, keep it aside,

In the same pan add sliced onions and 1 tbsp of oil. Sprinkle some salt on it and saute till they turn in to golden brown, once cooked, scape these onions out in a bowl.

Place some cheese on the top of buns (split) and toast the burger buns in this hot skillet until they are lightly toasted.

Now it turns to prepare the burger, layer mayo on the each bun’s bottom and place onion slices and then burger patties. Layer the burger patties with your favorite barbeque sauce and add shredded lettuce leaves, add tomato slices, and put some extra barbeque sauce on it. finally, top it with cheese and top buns and press it lightly. Your Bison burgers are ready.
