What is Caprese Burger Recipe & How to Make It?

Caprese burger is inspired by classic Caprese salad and delivers delicious flavors to the classic American burger recipe. This Caprese-salad-style burger is packed with fresh mozzarella cheese, basil pesto, and juicy tomato. This salad style burger is an easy and quick way to jazz up your regular and boring burger that will make you want more. This burger is juicy, flavorful and packed with nutrients along with a twist of Italian flavor in an American classic. 

Tips to make Caprese Burger

  • You can go for a vegetarian version of this recipe by skipping the beef and make burger patties of potato and crushed veggies combined with all-purpose flour. 
  • You can also skip the burger and try this recipe in crispy lettuce wraps.
Step 1

Combine basil leaves, almonds, ½cup olive oil, garlic in a grinding jar and pulse until you get a smooth paste. Add the grated cheese and pulse again to combine. Season the basil pesto with salt and pepper. You will get around 1 cup quantity of this pesto. Keep it aside.

Now take a ¼ cup of pesto and transfer it into a bow. Add the ground beef and a pinch of salt in it and knead it gently. Form this mixture into four patties which should be around 4 inches in diameter and 1 inch thick. Brush these burger patties lightly with olive oil and place it aside.

Preheat the grill and grease it with any oil using a paper towel. Lay the burger patties on the greased grill and allow them to grill over medium-high heat for 2-3 minutes. Flip the sides of the patties and add a slice of mozzarella cheese on each patty. Cook for another 2 minutes on medium heat and remove the patties from the grill and keep it aside.

Also, place the buns on the grill and toast them until lightly toasted.

Now it is time to assemble the burger, spread a layer of pesto on all the bottom buns and top it with beef burger patties, the tomato slices and add remaining pesto on the top. Close the burgers with top bun and serve immediately.
