Paneer kolhapuri recipe is a spicy Maharashtrian dish, specifically from Kolhapur region which is prepared with paneer and dry kolhapuri spices. The kolhapuri spices are a mixture of a variety of dry spices, desiccated coconut and red chilies which are used in cooking any gravy dish.
Special tips to make Paneer Kolhapuri Recipe
- Paneer kolhapuri is a very spicy and tasty dish. However, you can adjust the spice level according to your choice.
- Make sure to use dry coconut if you are preparing this dish in large quantity.
- Add veggies of your choice like beans, potatoes, cauliflower, etc. in the recipe if you want.
- Garnish the Paneer kolhapuri dish with fresh cream to get a more rich flavor.
Prepare all the above-said ingredients ready, and we will proceed with preparing the gravy first, Add roughly chopped tomatoes and cashew nuts in a blending jar and blend till smooth paste.
Heat oil in a kadai or pan and heat it for a few seconds. Add ginger-garlic paste and saute it on moderate heat.
Once the raw aroma of ginger-garlic goes away, add onions in it and saute it till onion become translucent. Add salt, turmeric and red chili powder in the mixture and mix it well. Add kolhapuri masala and tomato-cashew nut puree in this mixture. Mix it thoroughly.
Let this mixture simmer on medium heat till the mixture starts leaving the fat on the sides of the pan. You can adjust the salt and spices as per your preference.
Now add paneer cubes and mix it with the help of a spatula, but carefully such that the paneer cubes won't break.
Cook this gravy for a couple of minutes till you feel that the gravy has got the right texture and combined well. Turn off the flame.
Serve Paneer Kolhapuri Recipe (Cottage Cheese In Maharashtrian Gravy With Kolhapuri Masala) along with Naan or any kind of rice.
