What is a Chilli Paneer & How to make Chilli Paneer Recipe?
Paneer chilli or chilli paneer is a popular Indo-Chinese dish made from Paneer, Capsicum, and onion. It is a popular appetizer which can be easily found in most Indian restaurants. This dish perfectly combines the spices and flavors with a delicate balance of cuisine. Paneer Chilli Recipe comes with two variants – dry version and gravy version and mainly served to Indo-Chinese rice recipes.
Special tips to make Chilli Paneer
- Chilli Paneer can be shallowly fried, half fried and grilled.
- Don’t use chili powder as it can change the taste of the recipe. Instead, use red chili paste in the recipe.
- To get the right consistency, add 2 tsp for corn starch for every 1 cup of water.
To begin with the recipe, firstly, soak the paneer in hot water with few drops of lemon juice in it. Let it soaked in hot water for 10 minutes.
For the batter, mix plain flour, corn starch, and salt in a bowl. Add water into the bowl slowly to make a smooth consistency without lumps. Add soaked paneer in this batter and toss it well.
Heat oil in a frying pan on medium-high heat and drop paneer into the pan after dipping into the batter. Fry the panner on moderate in small batches until brown. Drain them on an absorbent paper. This will take 5 minutes. Repeat the same process with capsicum as well.
To make the sauce, take a saucepan and preheat it on medium flame. Add ginger, green chili and stir it for about one minute. Add soy sauce, vinegar, chili flakes, and tomato paste and mix it well for 1 minute.
Add water and corn starch to the sauce and let it cook for another two-three minutes. Once the sauce gets a thick consistency, add fried paneer and capsicum in the sauce and stir it well.
Serve it hot with fried rice or Pulao.
