What is Sloppy Joe Recipe and how to make it?

Sloppy Joe is a meat sandwich combined with ground beef or pork, onions, tomato ketchup, and other seasonings on a hamburger bun. This dish is an American creation that has been around since the 1950s. It is a popular recipe that is very easy, quick and inexpensive to make. A lot of variations can be found on the traditional recipe around the country just like many names of sloppy Joe Recipe.

Tips to make sloppy Joe

  • You can also use a canned product in the recipe which contains most of the ingredients of the recipe already mixed together.
  • You can choose meat as per your desire and add some spices to bring more flavor to the dish.
  • We have served sloppy joe on a hamburger bun in this recipe, you can switch it any other flatbread of your choice and add your desired toppings on it.

Take a large skillet and put it over medium heat. Add tbsp of olive oil and heat it. Combine bell pepper and chopped onion in the oil and cook until onions and bell pepper get soft. It will take around 5 minutes

Add garlic in the mixture and stir it well. Cook until the raw smell of garlic goes away. Add tomato paste in the sautéed mixture and cook it well until aromatic. It will take around 2-3 minutes more.

Once the mixture is completely mixed, combine ground beef and cook it well. stir it occasionally to prevent the mixture from sticking on the bottom. Cook the beef for around 6-7 minutes or until it is no longer pink. Then add Worcestershire sauce and tomato sauce, in the cooked mixture and stir it well. lastly, add brown sugar and apple cider vinegar in it. And give a nice stir.

Flavor it with salt and black pepper as per your taste and let it simmer on low heat until the mixture gets thickened, for about 30 minutes. Serve it on hamburger buns along with you desired toppings and enjoy!
