Indo Chinese Veg Fried Rice Recipe is a very famous and flavored rice recipe which is made with cooked rice, chopped vegetables along with seasoning ingredients. It is a popular staple food in many south-east Asian countries which is cooked with some variations. In India, this veg fried rice recipe from Indo-Chinese cuisine is commonly served as street food. This rice dish is available in most Indian restaurants and can be served well with Cabbage Manchurian.
Special Tips to make Veg Fried Rice
- Take non-stick pan for cooking vegetable fried rice as it requires less oil and grain doesn’t stick to the pan.
- After cooking rice, add 1 tsp of oil so it won’t stick.
- Adjust salt in the rice accordingly as soy sauce contains salt in it.
- Cook rice properly before adding them into the pan. Rice should be cooked properly before you add them in the pan.
- To add extra flavor and aroma, you can cook rice in an open pot.
Pre Cooking steps
Cook rice in an open vessel and once cooked, add the rice in a colander to remove water. Transfer the rice in a bowl and cover it and keep it aside.
Take a heavy-bottomed pan and add 2 tbsp of oil in it. Once the oil is heated, add chopped garlic in it
Also, add sliced onions in the pan and add 2 tbsp of spring onions it. Sauté them until they turn soft and light brown.
Combine sliced veggies of your choice like 3 tbsp of cauliflower, 3 tbsp of chopped carrot, 2 tbsp peas, 4-5 beans, half sliced capsicum and salt as per taste Fry these veggies on medium to high flame until they soften.
Add 2 tbsp of soy sauce and1 tbsp of vinegar in the pan and mix it well. Stir-fry the veggies until the sauce is well mixed.
Add cooked rice in the fried veggies and add 1 tsp of chilli powder and 1 tsp of salt or as per taste. Keep the rice and veggies stirring so it may not stick at the bottom. Add crushed pepper and cook rice for 1-2 minutes and once the rice and veggies are well combined and cooked, switch off the gas.
Your Indo-Chinese Veg Fried Rice is ready, serve it hot with Manchurian.
